There have been a tremendous amount of interruptions to my fantasy life of late. Work, kids–you may likely empathize with my plight. There are so many things that are out of my control in life. Time is one of the major things in my life that I feel I have little control over at present. Part of that is because my kids are still fairly young and need a lot of attention. It’s just the nature of parenthood. But, how I tend to keep my sanity is through a life much like Walter Mitty’s (minus the spies and intrigue, unless of course it’s a James Bond fantasy). I’ve an escapist personality and the imaginary me has not had a vacation recently. I find that I am having so much on my mind with my huge to-do list that I have little room left for 007, House or any other of my fakeboyfriends. I don’t even have time for one of them, much less the multitudes that usually occupy one level of my brain. I’m not sure what to do about it, either. I can’t quit life to live in fantasy. I have to work to pay the bills and, most importantly, have to be there for my kids. I guess I’ll just have to wait this out until my next real vacation by having little fantasy “quickies.”

What do you do when you don’t have time for full-blown fantasies?
